Nie je mozne zmenit rozlisenie - UBUNTU

Dobry den. Na kamaratovom starom PC sme rozbehali ubuntu, no nedokaze si zmenit rozlisenie z 800x600 na 1024x768

Skusali sme:
xrandr --output LVDS --mode 1024x768
xrandr --output VGA --mode 1024x768
xrandr --newmode "1024x768_60.00" 38.25 800 832 912 1024 600 603 607 624 -hsync +vsync

No stale bezo zmeny + vypis xrandr vyzera takto:
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 240, current 800 x 600, maximum 800 x 600

default connected 800x600+0+0 0mm x 0mm
800x600 60.0* 56.0
640x480 60.0
400x300 60.0 56.0
320x240 60.0
Co s tym? Xorg netusim ako upravovat na ubuntu, nakolko tam pise tie "Preddefined" hovadiny.

      Verzia ubuntu? Ovladce, verzia? Typ gr. karty?

        Verzia ubuntu je 9.04 , graficka karta je tam podla lspci | grep VGA:
        01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV18 [GeForce4 MX 440 AGP 8x] (rev a4)
        Ovladace sme ziadne neinstalovali

          Skusime nainstalovat ovladac z nvidia.com, ze co to da.
